How a round works
The directions printed in the book, in a nutshell.
- Each activity has four parts: who, the activity, the answer and the point value.
- Phones are needed for some activities, and one player writes down the scores.
- Don’t fancy an activity? Choose an alternate from the Bonus Activities at the end of the book.
- 1
The oldest player picks up the book, reads aloud who has to do the activity, then reads the activity.
- 2
Do it correctly and you score the points listed. Get it wrong and the player reading scores them instead.
- 3
Pass the book to the player on the left, who reads the next activity.
- 4
After 25 activities, the player with the highest score wins. Ties are settled with a dice roll or coin flip.
Are You Ready fora Canine Challenge?
Try a few real activities from the book. Pick an answer and the dog will let you know how you did.
In the book, you don’t choose who plays
Ask the shortest player…
Every activity in Canine Capers tells you who has to answer — “Ask the shortest player,” “Ask the player with the longest hair.” Try it: pick someone near you and let them take the question.
These are real activities from the book’s sample pages. Pages in the book have two games on them — Game 1 on the top half, Game 9 on the bottom — and these come from both. Where a question was open-ended, the answer choices were written for this website.
